How to Sell at Waddington's
Selecting Waddington’s means that you'll be working with a company that has been in business for 160 successful years – Canada’s longest-serving and most diverse auction house. That means that we can sell almost anything that a market exists for. Our core departments include Asian, Canadian, Contemporary, International and Inuit Art, Decorative Arts, Jewellery and the newly launched Fine Wine & Spirits. Waddington’s is also renowned for our ability to find or create markets for unique collections such as the contents of Maple Leaf Gardens, the William Jamieson Estate Collection, Charles Bronfman's Claridge Collection, the FXSmith Studio Collection, and many others.
Knowledge and Expertise
We are dedicated to providing the most accurate information and guidance. Choosing Waddington’s ensures that you will be assisted by some of Canada’s most knowledgeable specialists. Our staff are respected experts with access to international networks and resources.
Our expertly researched catalogues are our primary marketing tools. Colour photographs, detailed descriptions, provenance and essays are all included in our auction catalogues. Waddington’s website is also a powerful marketing vehicle, attracting thousands of viewers. Every item in a Waddington’s auction is featured in our online galleries, with sophisticated multiple views and zoom options. We also reach our audiences via digital newsletters, email blasts and blogs, as well as traditional advertising in both digital and print media channels.
We conduct over 20 live auctions in our Toronto gallery throughout the year totaling over $20 million in sales. Our spring and fall auction seasons are complemented by Waddington’s Fine Wine Auctions, quarterly Jewellery auctions, benefit auctions, and unique estate and collector auctions.
Our online auctions allow us to offer a diverse range of items to our domestic and international clients. The convenience of our online auction technology provides anytime, anywhere access to a variety of monthly online auctions of eclectic collections, themes, and mainstream collectibles and fine art.
We conduct public and private previews for both our live and online auctions, sometimes accompanied by private receptions and invited guest speakers.
In addition to our live and online auctions, Waddington’s is pleased to assist with confidential sales when timing or privacy are factors for our clients. With our extensive network of domestic and international clients, we are able to expertly facilitate private sales to best meet your needs.
