By descent to his wife, Toronto, ON

Note:

Paolo's drawing was inspired by the figure lower left in the fresco executed by Raphael's workshop, “The Vision of the Cross” in the Sala di Costantino in the Vatican between 1520 and 1524.

Paolo Fidanza became famous for publishing six volumes of prints of heads after Raphael between 1757 and 1763.

He drew and published the drawings after Raphael and other famous painters as etchings for a bound series called “Teste Scelte di Personaggi Illustri in Lettere, e in Armi',” Vols. I and II published in 1762 and 1763.

Fidanza’s smaller published etching of this drawing contained engraved letters and publishing information in the plate lower right.
