DOMINUS ESTATE 1984 (1 MAG.) NAPA VALLEY. I HAVE BEEN FOOLED BY THIS WINE IN BLIND TASTINGS, MISTAKING IT FOR A TOP POMEROL, ALTHOUGH THERE IS AN INSIGNIFICANT PERCENTAGE OF MERLOT IN THE BLEND. THE COMPLEX BOUQUET OF RIPE, CURRANTY FRUIT, COFFEE, AND SWEET BLACK CHERRIES HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY COMPLEX AND INTENSE. FULL-BODIED, OPULENT, AND SOFT, THIS FLESHY WINE APPEARS TO HAVE REACHED AN ATTRACTIVE PLATEAU OF MATURITY; IT SHOULD EASILY LAST FOR ANOTHER 10-15+ YEARS. 92 WA DOMINUS ESTATE NAPANOOK VINEYARD 1991 (2) NAPA VALLEY. THE WINE'S SENSATIONAL PURITY AND INNER-CORE OF DEPTH MUST BE TASTED TO BE BELIEVED. THE 1991 WILL BE APPROACHABLE YOUNG BECAUSE OF ITS SWEET TANNIN, YET IT EXHIBITS THE POTENTIAL TO LAST FOR 25 YEARS. PERHAPS 1994 WILL RIVAL IT, BUT FOR NOW, THE 1991 IS UNQUESTIONABLY THE GREATEST DOMINUS, AS WELL AS A POTENTIAL LEGEND IN THE MAKING. 99 WA DOMINUS ESTATE NAPANOOK VINEYARD 1992 (1) NAPA VALLEY. THE 1992 DOMINUS IS SIMILAR IN STYLE TO THE 1990. IT EXHIBITS AN OPEN KNIT, OPULENT, RICH, EASY-GOING CHARACTER WITH GORGEOUS LEVELS OF EARTHY, CASSIS FRUIT INTERTWINED WITH SCENTS OF HERBS, COFFEE, AND CHOCOLATE/MOCHA ICE CREAM. RICH AND FULL-BODIED, WITH THICK, VISCOUS FLAVORS AND LOW ACIDITY, THIS IS A FORWARD, EXCEPTIONALLY CONCENTRATED, EASY TO UNDERSTAND DOMINUS THAT SHOULD DRINK WELL FOR 20 YEARS. DECEMBER 1995 95 WA DOMINUS ESTATE 1998 (1) NAPA VALLEY. 4 BTS. & 1 MAG. PER LOT $1,400 - $1,600
