Note:
Lee Israel is the author of the "Esquire" magazine article for which the Katharine Hepburn portrait was created. In the movie "Can You Ever Forgive Me"?, Melissa McCarthy plays Lee Israel, an author who gets involved in literary forgery in the 1990s after her writing career drops off. The movie includes a scene near the beginning in which she sells a (real) letter to her from Katharine; the scene portrays a real life event.
