Note:

Sir Byron Edmond Walker (1848-1924) was instrumental in a campaign to establish a world class museum in Toronto. After many years of planning and pursuing this interest, The Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto opened to the public on March 19, 1914.

Sir Walker also took part in the foundation and direction of many of Canada’s organizations, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and the University of Toronto.
