Provenance:

From an Estate in Seattle, WA

Note:

This type of vase appears to have been made for one of the European Palaces in the Yuanming Yuan, and should come as a dragon and phoenix pair. The current example in the sale might be a match to the dragon vase from the Mrs. V. Paul collection, sold at Christie's London, April 16, 1980, lot 54. Possibly the other only comparable pair, removed from the Yuanming Yuan in 1860, was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 9 October 2007, lot 1322
