Cloisonné Enamel ‘Islamic Script’ Censer and Cover, 19th Century

With a pair of gilt lotus-form ring handles flanking either side of the broad flattened shoulder and compressed body raised on three stout feet, each fitted with gilt lotus mounts, the domed cover with an elaborate finial completed in openwork, the whole with an all-over pattern of scrolling vines and lotus interspersed with Islamic text above a sky-blue ground
width 7.5" — 19 cm.

Important Chinese Porcelain and Works of Art from an English Gentleman (lots 197-209)
Now residing in Toronto, the owner of this collection dedicated the last 40 years to the full-time study of Asian Arts with a main interest in Chinese ceramics, jades and scholarly objects. The majority of the items were purchased at auction and from private collections.
Acquired from the estate of a prominent Pakistani gentleman in London England.
