Carved in the round as a group of conjoined and twisting fungus with several smaller growths emerging from a central lingzhi. Affixed to wood stand
jade height 2.6" — 6.5 cm.

Provenance:

Chinese Jade Carvings from the Collection of Robert Murray Bell and Ann Bell (lots 233-243)
Beginning in the 1930’s and continuing until Robert Murray’s death in 1998, the Bells were dedicated and enthusiastic collectors, forming one of Toronto’s finest collections of Chinese works of art. Following Murray’s death, under Ann’s careful stewardship, the majority of the Bell’s collection was generously donated to the permanent collections at the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art in Toronto.
