An artist from Hong Kong, Ting Yulou befriended many of the Chinese modernist painters. According to his stories, he spent many Saturdays and Sundays playing mahjong and drinking tea while discussing art with such personalities as Zhao Shao'ang, Yang Shan Shen, and Yang Zhiguang. Through these relationships and his connections with fellow artists, Ting Youlu has built an outstanding collection of work from the masters.
