Note:

This study of the song and dance of 'Sangoku Ken' became a popular New Year's performance in Edo (now Tokyo) around 1850. The game consisted of three countries, Japan, China, and India, representing their dominating religions/philosophies of Shinto, Confucianism, and Buddhism. In the game, China defeats India, India defeats Japan, and Japan defeats China.

The same print can be found on the Kuniyoshi Project website.
