Note:
Shiwan kilns of Guangdong, active since the Tang and Song periods, are renowned for their robust stoneware and inventive glazing techniques. Drawing on rich local clays and high-temperature firing, they developed a distinct aesthetic characterized by expressive modeling and lustrous, variegated glazes. By the late Qing and Republican eras, Shiwan workshops had become celebrated for their sculptural artistry, producing figures and decorative wares that blended folk tradition with technical mastery. Today, Shiwan ceramics remain prized for their craftsmanship, vitality, and enduring regional identity.
