Note:
A group of crystal and quartzite snuff bottles, attributed to the so-called “Rustic Crystal Master”, circa 1730–1880, is finely worked in low relief with decoration inspired by literati landscape painting. The group is distinguished by its highly recognizable style, and the natural inclusions and fissures of the stones are deftly incorporated into the designs, demonstrating the carver’s exceptional technical mastery and sensitivity to the material.
