A Wood Sculpture of Jizo Bosatsu (Ksitigarbha), Kamakura/Momoyama Period, 14th-16th Century
日本 镰仓/桃山时期 木雕地藏菩萨立像
Of hollow construction and applied with coloured pigments, the eyes and byakugo (forehead urna) inlaid with glass, the hands positioned to hold the hoju (treasure jewel) and shakujo (staff), both missing, wearing a gilt metal necklace and standing on a lotus pedestal raised above rockwork on a rectangular base; possibly later replaced 17th/18th century head
overall including stand height 33.1 in — 84 cm
