Note:
Takashi Murakami is arguably best-known for his designs of "smiling flowers", which has been transformed into a variety of mediums, one of which being the more easily consumable and collectible plush pillows. Murakami first developed his fascination with flowers in the 1980s as a schoolteacher, and the eventual culmination that became this iconic symbol represented pure joy and innocence. These plush creations can be found in the homes of art collectors and popular culture icons all around the world. For example, Murakami has sent the rapper Drake a stack of fuzzy flowers as a housewarming gift in 2018, and gifted the street artist Brian Donnelly, better known as KAWS, a giant six-foot flower pillow when he visited Murakami's studio in Japan.
