A group of five zodiac figures of identical forms and different palettes sold at Christie's London, September 15, 2005, lot 406

Peter L. Rosenberg (1932-2013) owned and operated Vallin Galleries in Wilton, Connecticut for nearly thirty years. Peter inherited the family business from his mother, who regularly dealt with Chinese porcelain and other Asian works of art in the 1940s for her lamp store. The business grew to become a well-established gallery for Asian art and antiques at the time that Peter joined. The gallery was known to work with eminent dealers and private collectors such as Robert H. Ellsworth, and pieces have been sold to museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Chicago Art Institute. A large portion of his estate was sold by Skinner Auctions in 2014.
