Note:

According to the online catalogue raisonne by Tim Linnell, Linnell Senior executed a smaller canvas in 1852 entitled: ‘The Wold of Kent' measuring 26 by 37 inches which was exhibited at the British Institute in 1853.

Tim Linnell has kindly shared with readers of the Victorian Web his scanned text of “The Life of John Linnell”, which the London publishers Bentley and Son brought out in 1892.

This lot is larger measuring 30” x 45 1/2” than the work exhibited at the British Institute. This relined canvas is apparently unsigned and un-dated. The title given on the nameplate may be erroneous.
