Provenance:
Estate of Irene Kinchen
Note:
In 1960/61 Irene Kinchen was working on the assembly line at Toronto trophy manufacturer Empire Silversmiths. Empire received orders from all over North America to produce custom trophies. An order came in from a business in Los Angeles for 12 small trophies modelled as teddy bears, looking like mini versions of the Oscars awards trophies. The order was to be sent to an address in L.A.
Mrs. Kinchen was assigned the job of assembling and shipping these 12 bears. Curious to know who wanted these cute miniature bear trophies, at the last minute decided to include a note: "I hope you like these bears and that they reach you safely" including her name and mailing address. She sent the package and forgot about it.
About a month or so later this postcard arrived in the mail.
