  • Panoramic View of the City of Toronto, Canada West, c.1860
Note:

The source photographs used to create this panoramic image were taken in 1857 as part of a package sent to the Colonial Office as part of a campaign to have Queen Victoria select Toronto to be the capital of the Province of Canada. The Queen likely never saw the maps and photographs included and decided that Ottawa should be Canada's capital. Note the amphitheater and arch created for the reception of the Prince of Wales on his 1860 visit.
