Note:
Built for the St. Lawrence river trade and launched in 1913, the ocean liner RMS Andania began her service with a maiden voyage from Liverpool to Quebec and Montreal. In August 1914, the ship was requisitioned as a troopship for the war effort, transporting Canadian soldiers and later housing German prisoners of war in the Thames. During the 1915 Gallipoli campaign, she carried the Royal Inniskilling and Royal Dublin Fusiliers for the landings at Suvla, and later took troops from Plymouth to Port Said to defend the Suez Canal. After returning to passenger service in 1917, the Andania was torpedoed by the German submarine U-46 on January 27, 1918, near Rathlin Island, of the North Coast of Ireland. The vessel sank within hours, with the loss of seven crew members, though all passengers were saved. Her wreck lies at a depth of 175 to 189 meters.
