Note:

In 1878, Princess Louise arrived in Canada as the viceregal consort, accompanying her husband, the Marquess of Lorne, who was appointed Governor General. As the fourth daughter of Victoria, she was first daughter of a reigning monarch to visit the country, injected royal glamour into Canadian life. A talented artist and sculptor, Louise fiercely championed national culture, co-founding the National Gallery of Canada and the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. Her lasting legacy remains etched across the landscape, including inspiring the names of the province of Alberta and Alberta's Lake Louise.
