Realized between 1987 and 1988, Des rêves et du hasard has been referred to by Bellefleur specialist Guy Robert as the most ambitious of the painter’s career. Painted in the artist’s 78th year, the series, of which this work is a part, is in many ways the culmination of Bellefleur’s long dialogue with chance.
Pale droplets of pinks, purples, and whites spin around the painting, making their way to its centre as though drawn in by a vortex.
