TERRY DUNTON STEVENSON (1949 - )

Terry Dunton Stevenson grew up in Manhattan, N.Y. and received her degree in art education from S.U.N.Y at New Patz, New York in 1972, spending the next seven years teaching art in both New York and Prince Edward Island. She was first introduced to P.E.I. at the age of 13 by her father, who was from the island, and she eventually moved there in 1979, where she has lived ever since.

Until 1983 Stevenson worked primarily in pastel and began painting with acrylics in 1984. She has had several solo exhibitions of large format paintings in both P.E.I. and Montreal, Quebec, and has designed several exhibit installations, the largest being "Our Island Home" at Borden-Carleton in conjunction with the bridge opening. She has taught art full time and is currently involved with the Artsmarts, a program that aims to encourage students to develop their intellectual skills by participating in creative learning experiences.
