Kayo O’Young was born in Canton, China in 1950 and immigrated to Canada in 1965. He attended Central Technical School in Toronto from 1970 to 1973. He began potting at the age of five under the tutelage of his parents and grandparents who were potters. His work has also been featured in the films The Hand and the Spirit (TV Ontario, 1992), and Playing with the Fire (CBC Arts and Entertainment, 1993). O’Young lives in Kleinburg, Ontario.
