Note:

Born in Sarasota, Florida, Michael Lancaster grew up in an artistic family. He is the son of portrait painter Betty Warren, and actor Stuart Lancaster, and the great-grandson of Circus magnate Charles Ringling.

Initially a potter of ceramics, after 1980 he began painting. He is the co-owner of Calliope Art Gallery, founded by him and his wife Barbara Harnack, in Madrid, New Mexico in 2008.
