Provenance:

Private Collection, Toronto.
Art with Heart, Casey House, Toronto.

Note:

Paul Sloggett was born in Campbellford, Ontario in 1950 and graduated from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto. His remarkable geometric abstractions were first exhibited at Hart House University of Toronto in 1971; since then he has enjoyed a long and prestigious exhibition history. In 1977 he was exhibited along with Jack Bush, K.M. Graham, Charles Gagnon, David Bolduc and Jean Paul Lemieux at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. Sloggett has continued to paint geometric abstractions because of his lifelong interest in Russian constructivism, architectural design, nature and colour. His work has been exhibited across Canada, as well as in China, Germany, Italy and the United States, and is included in numerous collections, including the Art Gallery of Edmonton, the Art Gallery of Hamilton and the Robert McLaughlin Gallery. A member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, his work was also included in Dr. Roald Nasgaard’s definitive text on Canadian Abstraction, Abstract Painting in Canada.
