Provenance:

Private Collection, Toronto

Note:

Michael Adamson’s abstract canvases transcend their borders, enveloping the viewer in bold, textured oil paints. Adamson explains that what compels him to paint is the ways in which color, texture, and pattern interact. His paintings are difficult to categorize; they are an amalgamation of expressionism, conceptualism and historical references that serve to evoke intense primordial emotions.

Adamson is a graduate of Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver and has furthered his training at Ryerson and Gesamkunst Hochschule. His work has been featured in dozens of solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Japan, the United States and Canada. His paintings are housed in a variety of public, private and corporate collections including the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Bank of Montreal, Royal Bank of Canada and Holt Renfrew.
