Jorge J. Luis Joanicot is a graduate of the Plastic Arts School in Havana, where he specialized in painting, sculpture and photography. Joanicot also studied in the USA, Russia and Czech Republic where he became known for his portrait studies and landscapes. Joanicot has been actively exhibiting his art since the 1960s and is championed for his honest and traditional look at the beautiful abundance that is the Cuban landscape.
