Pair of Austro-Hungarian Silver Two-Handled Covered Tureens and Stands, Vienna, 1800
of pedestal footed circular form, moulded with lozenge shaped panels of reclining female figures and with acanthus leaves and cornucopia issuing bifurcated loop handles, the domed covers chased with stiff leaf borders below fruiting foliate finials, the spreading bases each with a band of matted-ground formalized fruiting vines and engraved with armorials, raised on four foliate mounted paw feet

CONDITION DETAILS
Engraved with initials PSB and coronet opposite the armorials on bases; several dents, mainly to one body, which is misshapen to the extent that the cover does not fit well; handles on the same tureen are bent; the two finials differ in design and height; bases only are marked under the centre with Vienna 1800 marks, one also with indistinct maker’s mark; the bases, bodies and covers are all remarked 1806/07 and also struck with later French import marks
