A note inside the miniature identifies the artist and names the sitter as a relation of 'Pepys', presumably Samuel Pepys Cockerell, the architect who was a great-great nephew of the noted diarist.

CONDITION DETAILS

Half inch vertical crack to ivory panel, bottom centre. Scratches to lens. Friction fit bezel around requires securing. (Case opens)
