Contrary to the inscription, Dorothea (Dolly) FitzClarence (1845-1870) was the eldest daughter of Lord Augustus FitzClarence, brother of Frederick, both illegitimate children of Prince William, Duke of Clarence (later William IV) and actress Dorothea Jordan (Mrs. Jordan).
