Lot 106
KIAKSHUK (1886-1966)
Note:
“Stone cairns, called inuksuit, are believed to have been built as directional indicators, caribour-herding devices, and markers for caches. Many were given human-like form. A certain skill was necessary to construct a stable cairn. The Cape Dorset area is rich in inuksuit.”
