Lot Report

Note:

Englishman John Harwood is the acknowledged inventor of the automatic winding wristwatch. He received a Swiss patent for the design in 1924 and the Harwood Self-Winding Watch Co. was created in 1928. The watches were produced primarily between 1929 and 1931. Unfortunately, the Great Depression and competitive pressure from the newly developed rotor winding system forced the company to close in the early 1930’s.
