E. GUIGAL CÔTE-RÔTIE LA MOULINE 2011 (2)
Rhône.
u. 2 x 1 cm. 2 x wrinkled labels.
Full-bodied, thrillingly concentrated and unctuous, it offers classic Mouline notes of cured meats, violets, black raspberries, espresso and hints of vanilla bean. Philippe Guigal commented that the worst thing about 2011 was the it came after 2010, and while the previous two vintages will get all of the attention, this 2011 will deliver almost as much pleasure, and do it right from the start as well. It needs 3-4 years of cellaring and will drink sensationally through 2041. December 2015 WA 98
E. GUIGAL CÔTE-RÔTIE LA TURQUE 2007 (1)
Rhône.
u. 1 cm. marked & wrinkled label.
A common refrain regarding the La-Las is that they require a decade or more of cellaring to come around. In fact, they're often quite open and appealing soon after release, only to close down shortly thereafter. The 2017 Cote Rotie La Turque offers up hints of crushed stone and struck flint, smoky, bacon-fat aromas and ripe, mouthwatering blackberries. Full-bodied, creamy and rich, it's a powerful, concentrated effort that should still be drinking well in two decades. February 2022 Drink to 2045 WA 97+
