Lot 365 Details
E. GUIGAL CÔTE-RÔTIE LA LANDONNE 2006 (1)
Rhône.
scraped & marked label.
A surprisingly structured, full-bodied, masculine wine in the vintage is the 2006 Cote Rotie la Landonne. Still inky colored and loaded with notions of beef blood, black olive, peppery herbs, smoke and scorched earth-like minerality, it still needs another 3-4 years of cellaring to start to be approachable. It will certainly be one of the longest-lived wines in the vintage and will have 3-4 decades of overall longevity. September 2015 Drink: 2019-2046 WA 96+
E. GUIGAL CÔTE-RÔTIE LA MOULINE 2006 (1)
Rhône.
scraped & peeling label.
Slightly more rustic, with high, yet sweet, tannin, the 2006 Cote Rotie la Mouline offers notions of toasted spice, licorice, dried flowers, rendered bacon fat and red currants to go with a full-bodied, nicely textured and concentrated feel on the palate. There’s a lot of tannin here and I’m curious to see how this evolves over the coming decade. Nevertheless, at the very least, it will benefit from short-term cellaring and have a decade of longevity after that. August 2014 WA 95
E. GUIGAL CÔTE-RÔTIE LA TURQUE 2006 (1)
Rhône.
scuffed label.
Possessing more acidity and obvious structure than the 2007, the 2006 Cote Rotie La Turque offers ample notes of charred meats, blackcurrants, cassis, saddle leather and spice. Still inky purple in color, with a straight, focused, lengthy style, give this full-bodied beauty another 2-3 years of cellaring and enjoy over the following two decades or more. December 2016 Drink: 2019-2039 WA 94+
