CHÂTEAU D'YQUEM 2003 (1 hf. bt.)

Sauternes. Premier Cru Supérieur
u. vts. marked label.

A massive Yquem, this has a dense palate that is almost chewy like a red. Full and very sweet, with notes of dried apricot, pineapple, and papaya on the palate. Long, with a vanilla-coconut tart finish. What a wine, voluptuous, sexy, and luscious. April 2012 jamessuckling.com WS 97 JS 98

CHÂTEAU D'YQUEM 2005 (2 hf. bt.)

Sauternes. Premier Cru Supérieur
u. 2 x bn. 1 x marked label.

Tasted at the property 12 months on from my last visit, my note for the Château d'Yquem 2005 is almost exactly the same. I feel that there is still just a little new oak to be resolved on the nose. But the palate is extremely well balanced, perhaps just a little nuttier than I remember from 12 months ago, with hints of white chocolate and crème brûlée just appearing on the finish. This needs another decade, but it is a very serious Yquem in the making. Tasted April 2015. Drink: 2025-2060 WA 96

CHÂTEAU LAFAURIE-PEYRAGUEY 2003 (2)
