Lot 263 Details
GREENOCK CREEK SHIRAZ CREEK BLOCK 1996
Barossa Valley, South Australia.

The 1996 Shiraz Creek Block exhibits a dense purple color, and a spectacular nose of roasted coffee intermixed with cassis, blackberries, licorice, and spice. The wine displays amazing ripeness, an unctuous texture, full-bodied palate, and a finish that lasts for 45+ seconds. Its high alcohol and tannin are nearly concealed by the wine's amazing concentration. There are 100 cases of the Creek Block. The wine is made from 60-year old Shiraz, having 15.8% alcohol. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2020. Although few readers will have a chance to try this wine, its name is worth knowing as it is among the world's finest Shiraz. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2025. 96 WA
