Lot 414 Details
E. GUIGAL CÔTE-RÔTIE LA LANDONNE 2001 (1)
Rhône.
u. 1 cm. scraped, wrinkled & marked label.
Starting to show signs of maturity, the 2001 Cote Rotie la Landonne offers a complex, nuanced bouquet of spice, hints of oak, smoked meats and sweet dark fruit. This is followed by a full-bodied, classically styled Cote Rotie that has beautiful mid-palate density, solid acidity and a great finish. This is a classic version of the cuvee that will be in its prime for another decade, and evolve gracefully after that. September 2015 WA 95
E. GUIGAL CÔTE-RÔTIE LA MOULINE 2001 (1)
Rhône.
u. 1 cm. scraped & marked label.
A textbook example of the cuvee that possesses a classy, focused, and tight profile, the 2001 Cote Rotie La Mouline gives up plenty of vibrant berry fruits, pepper, herbed crusted game and bacon fat to go with a medium to full-bodied, juicy, fresh and pure profile on the palate. The amount of acid here gives me a slight pause, yet it has solid mid-palate depth, beautiful polished its tannin, and no shortage of length on the finish. Give it 2 to 3 years and drink it over the following decade or more. August 2014 WA 95+
E. GUIGAL CÔTE-RÔTIE LA TURQUE 2001 (1)
Rhône.
u. 1 cm. scraped, wrinkled & marked label.
Meaty and rich, with notes of Asian spices, espresso roast, creosote, blackberries, and cherries, the 2001 Cote Rotie La Turque is an earthy, powerful, tannic effort with a long, heady, rich finish, and crisper acids than the 2000. Give it 5-8 years of cellaring, and consume it over the following 20-25 years. December 2004 WA 95-97
