CHÂTEAU L'EGLISE-CLINET 2005 (2)
Pomerol.
2 x scuffed labels. 1 x wrinkled label
The Château l'Eglise-Clinet 2005 was served from bottle and from magnum (both ex-cellar). It has a magnificent nose with bewitching delineation: darker fruit than either the 2003 or 2004, blackberry, raspberry, hints of black tea and black truffle. The palate is medium-bodied with brilliant focus, still quite backward as so many grandees of this vintage remain, albeit beginning to soften towards the licorice-tinged finish. This is a benchmark for both Denis Durantou and this Pomerol estate, although I can see it testing wine-lovers' patience. Tasted March 2015. Drink 2020-2050 WS 98 WA 99
CHÂTEAU L'EVANGILE 2005 (2)
Pomerol.
The 2005 L’Evangile’s gorgeous aromatics consist of spring flowers, black raspberries, licorice, truffle and graphite. The wine is full-bodied, rich, still youthful and backward, with sweet tannin and a long, layered, full-bodied mouthfeel. This stunner is capable of another two to three decades of longevity. The greatest L’Evangile since the 1982 and before the heroic duo of 2009 and 2010? June 2015 Drink: 2015-2045 WS 100 WA 96
CHÂTEAU LA CLÉMENCE 2001 (3)
