COLLECTION OF 37 LANDSCAPE STUDIES

Thirty-seven oil sketches, two on panel; the remaining on board or textured paper, some mounted on board; one signed, titled and dated /98 verso, some indistinctly titled, several others dated Feb. 06 and Sept 04, one inscribed, “to Nora” verso, most annotated with colour notes on the front or verso. Various small sizes, each unframed.
Largest three approximately 7.5" x 10.75" — 19.1 x 27.3 cm.; 6" x 7.5" — 15.2 x 19.1 cm.

Note:

Pickering settled for a while in Surrey, with London as his headquarters. When he worked in the British Isles, he sketched chiefly the rugged hills and valleys of Scotland and Wales. He also had toured and sketched in France, Spain, Corsica and Italy before settling in Surrey.
