Provenance:

Christie’s sale, n.d.; a black stencil No. “96 HP” stamped verso;
Private Collection, Philadelphia;
By descent

Note:

The Limoges enamellers signing 'Jean de Court' and 'Jean Court dit Vigier' are probably the same person, and probably identical with the court painter Jean de Court who was employed by the French royal court in 1558 and worked for Mary Stuart in 1562.
