Another American portrait on a similar stamped canvas, of a woman identified as “Portrait of Caroline Washburn”, painted in 1830 on prepared “Edward Dechlin New York” canvas, indistinctly signed, “Thatcher” was sold at Estates & Antiques Auction, March 13th, N.Y.
A second portrait, “Portrait of Parnel Kelsey Munger”, mother of Caroline Washburn, unsigned, was also sold at the above auction.
These portraits may be related or by the same artist.
