This painting is a copy of the ceiling fresco, L’Aurora, painted by Guido Reni for the Pauline Chapel inside the Papal Palace, in Monte Cavallo, for Pope Paul V during his second stay in Rome (from 1613-1614). It is considered to be Guido Reni’s best work.
