In a letter dated April 13th, 1978, Dr. Libuse Jandova, representing the Director of the National Gallery in Prague noted that historians F.V. Mokry and V. Cerny published a monograph on Cermak’s works citing the small oil study for this work under Cat. No. 36, executed on panel measuring 8 3/4” x 6 1/4” (22 x 16 cm) entitled “Madonna of the Black Mountain”
