Provenance:

A letter from conservator and restorer, Guy B. Roberts, writing from Alberni, B.C., dated January 16, 1961, addressed to Mr. R.S. Van Valkenburg, Director of the Eaton’s Gallery, writes that this oil was one of many purchased by Guy’s father, about 1910;
Left to a Miss Pringle, n.p.;
Purchased again from Miss Pringle by Guy Robert’s father c. 1928 where it hung in his residence during the 1930s and during the war;
Roberts Art Gallery, Toronto;
The Fine Art Galleries, The T. Eaton Co. Ltd. from who purchased by Mrs. E.W. Gordius, Toronto on December 19, 1960 with a copy of the original receipt

Guy Roberts sold the business to Sid Wildridge, Jack Wildridge’s father, and turned the painting over to the Robert’s Gallery
