As noted in the provenance this painting was once owned by Prince Charles d’Arenberg. The final Prince d’Arenberg, before it was made a dukedom by the Holy Roman Emperor, Ferdinand III in 1644, was Prince Philippe-Charles (1587-1640); the only living Prince d’Arenberg during Gillemans’s time.
