Furse was elected A.R.A. in 1904 shortly before his death. There was a memorial exhibition of his work at the Burlington Fine Arts Club in 1906 and Sargent, a friend, contributed to the catalogue introduction. This work was one of a collection of 7 paintings offered by the family of the artist in the Sotheby auction
