Provenance:

Peter Croydon, Toronto commercial photographer from the late 1940s to the 1980s, acquired directly from the artist

Note:

Peter Croydon did a lot of editorial work for magazines like Maclean's, Chatelaine, Mayfair and others. He was also friends with many Toronto artists during the 50s and 60s.  He did a photo essay about Chadwick, when the artist was in Toronto at the Ontario College of Art. Peter photographed Chadwick working on sculptures as well as works on paper. Chadwick was working with blocks of wood and ink, making prints and pen and ink studies, some watercolour and ink drawings were executed over a printed base. The artist gave this work to Peter Croydon during that time.
