Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Cox of Toronto also presented other oil paintings to the Art Gallery of Toronto in 1926. This presentation included this lot, as well as a work attributed to John Crome the Elder (offered in this sale, Lot 7). Likewise presented in 1926 by the couple, the oil on cradled panel entitled “Woodland Scenery” by Jules Dupre, which sold at Waddington’s on 9 December 2014 (Lot 475, Accession No. 805).
