Jan Gillisz van Vilet was a contemporary and collaborator of Rembrandt during his Leiden perod. Rembrandt would engage the printmaker Jan Gillisz van Vliet to create several works, the most ambitious of which was their collaboration for the etching and engraved work The Descent from the Cross (1633).
