Literature:

Library of Congress Catalog, 1964, Peacock Festival Selected Colour Woodcuts By Joseph Domjan, Intro by John F, Mills, p. 22

Note:

Following the Chinese Masters of the woodcut, Domjan did all his own printing. The application of paint on the block, like painting, was a crucial part of his creative process. As John F. Mills writes: “Domjan’s method of working, which seldom allows more than six to eight prints to be made in one session and which produces noticeable variations from print to print, means that when he limits himself to an edition of twenty-five, which is the usual case, he will have exhausted the printing potential of those blocks and have come naturally to a limit of their production”.
